For the first ten years in NYC, I felt relatively secure, not having to worry about working outside my home. As time went on, life became increasingly difficult. I struggled with feelings of insecurity; My immigration status made it hard to connect with others and I wanted to visit my family back home but couldn't. Many days, I contemplated returning home, but I reminded myself that I wasn't alone in my struggles.

Two years ago, I got married and received temporary papers. But, everything changed after DJT won the presidential election last year. It felt like my life was turned upside down. From leaving home, going to work, or even visiting the gym became anxiety-inducing experiences.

I was introduced to Brandon through a mutual friend back in 2020, shortly after I first arrived in Canada. At the time, I was travelling back and forth between the UK and Canada to visit my girlfriend (now wife).
